DELMARVA –Â After six difficult years for home sales, numbers released by the Census Bureau indicate that the housing market could be on the rise.
Brandon Brittingham, an Agent at Long & Foster of Salisbury, said “Interest rates are at an all-time low still. We’re still at thirty to forty year lows.” He added “In a lot of cities across the country, and even here locally, inventory has gone down significantly versus what inventory has been the last couple of years.
The number of home sales is increasing nationwide. In fact, last year more than five million existing homes were sold.
That was just over nine percent more than in 2012.
With such a significant increase in homes sales, where does Delmarva fit in?
The continued growth at Wallops’ Island NASA facility has created over one-thousand new jobs and generated a resurgence in Delmarva home buying.
“The expansion at Wallops has been very beneficial to our business.” said Dale King, a realtor at Kennington Reality
