Concerts, parades, and ice skating in downtown Salisbury brighten the Christmas season on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Thursdays thru Sundays until Dec. 22 / Ice skating in downtown Salisbury’s amphitheater. Thursdays and Fridays, 5 – 8 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 8 p.m. Admission and skating are free. Cost to rent skates: $5.
Thursdays thru Sundays until Jan. 12 / Holiday Model Train Display at the Seaford Museum, 203 High Street, Seaford, Del. Times: 1 – 4 p.m. This year’s theme is “The History of Lionel” and will feature an extensive display of antique and modern Lionel equipment, including a reproduction of the very first Lionel electric train.Tickets: Adults viewing trains only, $3; adults viewing trains and museum, $7; children 12 and under, free.
Through Dec. 31 / Winterfest of Lights at Ocean City’s Northside Park. Sip hot chocolate in the heated Winterfest Village pavilion, take a photo with Santa, and board the Winterfest Express tram to tour fairy-tale-themed exhibits. The one-mile journey travels past hundreds of animated lighted displays and a 50-foot Christmas tree. Times: Fridays and Saturdays, 5:30 -10:30 p.m.; other nights, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. Tram tickets: $5 for those 12 and older; others, free.
Dec. 6 – 8 (Fri. – Sun.) / Eastern Shore Ballet Theater presents The Nutcracker at the Wicomico High School Auditorium, 201 Long Avenue, Salisbury. Dec. 8 (Sun.) / Mid Atlantic Symphony at the Ocean City Performing Arts Center, 4001 Coastal Highway. Ring in the season with a festive selection of Christmas music played in the style of the big-band orchestras. 3 p.m. Tickets: $50.
Dec. 8 (Sun.) / Holiday Home Tour of Salisbury’s Newtown District. Visit the interiors of the district’s most beautiful historic homes, all lavishly decorated for Christmas. Time: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tickets: $15, available on the day of the event from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Poplar Hill Mansion, 117 Elizabeth Street, Salisbury.
Dec. 12 (Thurs.) / Cirque Musica’s Holiday Wishes at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, Salisbury. The show blends the grace and athleticism of today’s greatest circus performers with the sensory majesty of a symphony orchestra. 7 p.m. Tickets: $49 – $89.
Dec. 13 (Fri.) / Seacrets Customer-Appreciation Party, 49th St. and the Bay, Ocean City. Featuring free admission, drink specials, and complimentary buffet. Live music on two stages. 5 – 10 p.m.
Dec. 13 (Fri.) / “Sabbath: The Complete Black Sabbath Experience” (dinner and concert) at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, Salisbury. The concert recreates the band’s Ozzy and Dio Periods. Dinner (included) at 6:30; show at 8 p.m. Tickets: $40.
Dec. 21 (Sat.) / Kaleb Brown at Roadie Joe’s Bar and Grill, 213 W. Main St., Salisbury. 6 p.m.
Dec. 21 (Sat.) / Christmas Sing-Along at Clear Space Theater, 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Come to the theater for an hour-long sing-along. 3 and 5 p.m. Tickets: $10.

Dec. 26 – 31  (Thurs. – Tues.) / Governor’s Challenge High School Basketball Tournament at the Wicomico Civic Center and surrounding high schools. One hundred twenty teams will participate. Tickets are available online, by phone at 410-548-4911, or in person at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center Box Office (open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.). Fees may apply to ticket prices. New Year’s Eve Fireworks at Midnight; Northside Park, 125th St. The fireworks display will be accompanied by live entertainment, warm hot chocolate, and the opportunity to walk through the Winterfest of Lights.


Clarion Resort Hotel’s New Year’s Eve Party, 10100 Coastal Highway, Ocean City. Featuring gourmet buffet, open bar (cash bar after 1 a.m.), and two live bands.
