Continuous / Numerous recreational events for youth and adults sponsored by Wicomico County Recreation, Parks, and Tourism. Now through Dec. 31, 2023 (Wednesdays thru Sundays) / Winterfest of Lights at Northside Park, 200 125th St., Ocean City. Hop aboard a tram, or follow a paved path and walk past thousands of sparkling holiday lights and many animated light displays. Sip hot chocolate, take a photo with Santa, visit a gift shop, and view a 50-foot Christmas tree. Dates and times: Wednesdays through Sundays, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. Admission: $6. Children under 12, free. Now through Dec. 31, 2023 (every day) / Salisbury Holiday Hunt, downtown. Make your way around Salisbury’s most decked-out downtown attractions during the holiday season and complete challenges for points and a chance to win an amazing prize basket. The Salisbury Holiday Hunt will run from Nov. 25 to Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. Preregister at bit.ly/ScavrSalisburyHunt. Up to 500 participants can register. Dec. 1 – 3 & 7 – 10 / Estella Scrooge presented by the Clear Space Theater Co., 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach, Del. Ebenezer Scrooge’s greedy great great grand-daughter learns her own Christmas lessons in a modern adaptation of the classic story. Times vary. Tickets: $20 – $34.50. Dec. 2 (Sat.) / Ocean City Christmas Parade. The Ocean City Parade runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring chairs and blankets and arrive early to park and get a good viewing spot. The parade will proceed from Old Landing Road north to 120th Street. The southbound lanes of Coastal Highway will be closed for the parade in that general area, allowing spectators to gather curbside. Following the parade, visit the Carousel Hotel for family-friendly fun and an awards presentation.
Dec. 2 (Sat.) / Salisbury’s Holiday Lights Celebration, downtown on the Plaza. Santa, music by the Salisbury School Choir, a dance performance by Feet of Fire, a holiday market, free hot chocolate, and the lighting of Salisbury’s Christmas tree and menorah. Plus snow! Dec. 2 & 3 (Sat. & Sun.) / Delmarva Model Railroad Club Open House, 103 State St., Delmar, Del. Watch multiple trains operate on seven different layouts. Refreshments for sale. Times: Sat., 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Sun., noon – 4 p.m. Admission: free. https://www.delmarvamodelrailroadclub.org/events.html.
Dec. 3 (Sun.) / Frosty Festival at the Wicomico Civic Center, 500 Glen Ave., Salisbury. Attendees can enjoy festive live music, craft vendors, and wandering holiday characters. Tickets include unlimited access to the Water Boyz Inflatables bounce house village and the opportunity to create one craft ornament and one letter to Santa. For an additional fee, families can take photos with Santa or warm up with a festive drink at the hot cocoa bar. Food and other drinks (including adult beverages) will also be available for purchase. Time: Noon – 4 p.m. Tickets: $12 plus fee.
Dec. 3 (Sun.) / Yuletide Open House at the Poplar Hill Mansion, 117 Elizabeth St., Salisbury. See the beautiful floral decorations by the Four Seasons Garden Club with this year’s theme of an Enchanted Garden Christmas. Visit the second floor to see Christmas trees with over 1,500 ornaments, a holiday village, and over 100 nutcrackers. Scones, cookies, and holiday tea boxes with gourmet tea pyramids will be available for purchase. Admission is free and includes a small cookie bag for each guest. Dec. 3 (Sun.) / Salisbury Jaycees Christmas Parade, downtown Salisbury. Time: 1 p.m. Enjoy festive floats, marching bands, and dazzling performances. For 2023, the parade will begin at Mt. Dec. 9 (Sat.) / Ocean City Comic Con at the O.C. Convention Center, 4001 Coastal Highway. Dec. 10 (Sun.) / Jingle All the Way 5k Run/Walk beginning at the Mardela Athletic Complex, 210 Station St., Mardela, Md. The race officially starts at 9 a.m. All finishers will earn a medal after crossing the finish line. Dec. 26 – 30 (Tues. – Sat.) / Governor’s Challenge High School Basketball Tournament at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, the University of Md. Eastern Shore, and Wicomico High School. Dec. 31 / Jan. 1 (Sun. / Mon.) New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Party, Main St. and N. Division St., downtown Salisbury. This free, family-friendly event features live music ahead of confetti and a  ball drop at midnight. Beer and wine will be available for purchase outside, and local food trucks will be on-site. Free parking will be available in the parking garage. Jan. 1 (Mon.) Atlantic General Hospital’s Penguin Swim at the Princess Royale Oceanfront Resort, 9100 Coastal Hwy. in Ocean City. Take a wintery dip in the Atlantic to benefit the hospital. Registration: $30 on or before Dec. 30th; $35 on Dec. 31st or the day of the event.
