Now through Jan. 2 (Wednesdays thru Sundays) / Winterfest of Lights at Northside Park, 125th St., Ocean City. The 2021 Winterfest of Lights will feature an expanded walking tour that takes you past thousands of sparkling holiday lights and many animated light displays located along a paved path. Sip hot chocolate, take a photo with Santa, visit a gift shop, and enjoy an array of holiday exhibits. Days and times: Wed. – Sun., 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. Admission: $5. Kids under 12, free. Dec. 4 (Sat.) / Berlin Ghost Walk, Berlin, Md. Hear about the child who haunts the historic Atlantic Hotel, a spirit who hides in an antique store basement, the Lady in White standing by the bank, and apparitions of people long dead who are seen walking the streets. Guidance from a teacher plus all the supplies you’ll need to paint Santa or the Grinch on a wine bottle. Dec. 11 & 18 (Saturdays) / Visit Santa in Downtown Salisbury at the Salisbury Visitors’ Center, 110 N. Division St. Santa is making a visit from the North Pole to his satellite work shop in downtown Salisbury. Bring the kids to sit on Santa’s lap and share their Christmas list. Take photos with your own camera. Time: 12 noon – 3 p.m.
Dec. 18 (Sat.) / Cookies with Santa at the Salisbury Zoo. Enjoy an afternoon with Santa and his furry friends. Along with cookies and a drink, kids will make holiday crafts, including a commemorative “Cookies with Santa” ornament. Dec. 20 (Mon.) and while supplies last. / Make a Christmas Gift Bag with supplies from the library’s Centre at Salisbury branch. Starting Monday, December 20th, The Centre Branch will offer free Take-&-Make kits with all the supplies you’ll need to construct your gift bag.  Stop by the Centre Branch to pick up a kit.  Time: 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Dec. 26 – 30 (Sun. – Thurs.) / Governor’s Challenge High School Basketball Tournament at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, the University of Md. Eastern Shore, Wicomico High School, and J. M. Bennett High School. Nearly 130 teams will compete. Weeklong admission: Adults, $40; children ages 3 – 11, $20.  Daily admission: adults, $12; children ages 3 – 11, $6. Children under age 3, free. New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Ocean City at Northside Park, 200 125th St. Fireworks will begin promptly at midnight accompanied by live entertainment, warm hot chocolate, and the opportunity to experience the Winterfest of Lights.
