The Downtown Salisbury Festival, the Ocean City Air Show, and

Numerous Summer Activities Deliver Family Fun This Month

Every Night through Sept. 2 / Ocean City’s 100 Nights of Lights, North Division St. & the Boardwalk. The nightly light display will brighten the sky from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Every 20 minutes, the lights will change to create a new effect. Free. http://ocbeachlights.com/

June 1: Smokey Robinson; June 2: Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra; June 9: Alison Krauss; June 10: Jazz Ambassadors, America’s Big Band; June 15: The Wailers; June 16: Ran D’Shine; The Midtown Men, four stars from the original cast of Jersey Boys; June 20: Heal documentary; June 21: Beausoleil avec Michael Doucet; June 22: Chris Janson; June 23: Jungle John’s Jurassic Journey; Simply Diamond; June 26: Selections from Evita, presented by the Delaware All-State Theater; June 28: The Hunts; June 29: Party Rock featuring hits from the 80’s through the 2000’s; June 30: Rap, Rock, and Read with Miss Nina Stone; Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers. Extended Weekends In June and Early July / Hebron Firemen’s Carnival  at the Hebron Fair Grounds. Rides, food, and family fun, including the carnival’s famous oyster sandwiches. Kitchen opens at 6:30 p.m.; rides open at 7:15 p.m. Rides: $2 ea.; wrist bands for unlimited rides are $14. Admission and parking are free. Through June 6 / Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall displayed at VFW Post 5118 in Easton, Md. Three-fifths the size of the memorial in Washington, the traveling wall is 300 feet long and six feet tall. It stands as a reminder of the great sacrifices made by young Americans during the Vietnam War. For more info: http://www.travelingwall.us.
June 1 – 3 (Fri. – Sun.) / Mako Mania Shark Tournament, Bahia Marina, 21st & 22nd Streets, Ocean City. Mako Mania is unique in that boats of all sizes compete. View daily weigh-ins at Bahia Marina from 3:30 -7:30 p.m. each fishing day. Info.: http://www.bahiamarina.com/tournament/mako-mania.cfm.
June 2 (Sat.) / Baltimore Ravens “Roosts” Parade, Ocean City. Players, cheerleaders, mascots, bands, and floats appear in a two-hour parade sponsored by more than 50 Baltimore Ravens roosts from Md., Del., and Pa. June 8 – 10 (Fri. – Sun.) / Downtown Salisbury Festival, along East Main Street and Market Street. The festival returns with carnival rides, live music, food, and local vendors. Admission is free. Carnival rides: single ticket, $1.25; book of 25, $25; book of 50, $45; wrist band for unlimited rides (Sunday only), $18. June 9 & 10 (Sat. & Sun.) / Longboard Weekend Pro Surf Contest, Ocean City. On Saturday, 16 teams of five compete on longboards in two surf areas between 36th and 37th Streets. June 16 – 17 (Sat. & Sun.) / Ocean City Air Show. Featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, an F-35 Joint-Strike Fighter, a C-17 Globemaster, the Geico Skytypers, a P-51, a B-25 bomber, a C5-M Super Galaxy, and many other aircraft. Exhibits and displays open at 9 a.m.; the airshow begins at noon and concludes at 4 p.m. each day. Ticket prices vary by viewing location, and locations open at different times. June 22 – 24 (Fri. – Sun.) / The Drowsy Chaperone, the Broadway musical that lovingly parodies Broadway musicals. Presented  by the Community Players of Salisbury at the Wicomico High School Auditorium.
