May 16 – 19 (Thurs. – Sun.) / Cruisin’ Ocean City. See more than 3,300 customs, hot rods, muscle cars, and classics. A wide variety of events will take place at the Ocean City Convention Center, at the O.C. Inlet, along the Boardwalk, and at the U.S. 13 Dragway in Delmar, Del. Passes good for all four days: $25. May 16 – 20 (Thurs. – Mon.) / The Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall comes to the Lewes, Del., Cape May Ferry Port. The wall is a half-size replica of the memorial wall that is located in Washington, D.C. May 17 (Fri.) / Third-Friday Celebration, Downtown Plaza, Salisbury. Food, art, vendors, and live music. 5 – 8 p.m. Third Friday is back outside! This month’s theme: “Wheels.” http://www.3rdfridaysby.com/Home.aspx.
May 17 & 18 (Fri. night – Sat. morning) / Bunk with the Beasts campout at the Salisbury Zoo. This overnight adventure includes dinner, a guided tour, animal encounters, a nighttime hike through the zoo, and a continental breakfast the next morning. Campers need to bring their own tents, sleeping bags, and flashlights. Fun for families with children aged four and over. $35 per person. The event begins on Friday evening and ends on Saturday morning. Space is limited. Call 443-944-0636 for information and reservations. May 18 (Sat.) / Wings & Wheels at Salisbury-Ocean City-Wicomico Regional Airport, Salisbury. Family-friendly fun! Military jet fighters and helicopters, private aircraft, and “Wheels that Heal” classic cars on display. Airplane, helicopter, and tethered balloon rides available, including an opportunity to fly aboard a B-25 WW II-era bomber. Tour the SBY control tower and a Piedmont Airlines jet airliner. Watch a model-aircraft demonstration presented by the Mid-Atlantic Radio Kontrol Society of Fruitland. See local and Naval Academy skydivers, plus a drone demonstration. Food trucks, vendors, live country music by Six Pack Rodeo. Event runs from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Admission and parking are free. For auto parking, take Airport Rd. to Fooks Rd. May 23 (Thurs.) / The Broadway Jukebox Revolution (presented by Brown Box Theater Company) at the Ocean City Performing Arts Center, 4001 Coastal Highway, 8 p.m. Upon arrival, each audience member votes for his or her top song choices from five categories: “Classics,” “Contemporary Musicals,” “Animation,” “Diva,” and “Written by Rockers.” Brown Box then performs the audience’s top choices. May 25 (Sat.) / “Run to Remember” Memorial Day 5k Run/Walk, Winter Place Park, 6737 Blue Ribbon Road in Salisbury. The event benefits the Wicomico War Veterans Memorial located at the Civic Center. The course will be on wooded trails. Registration is at 8 a.m.; race begins at 9 a.m. Registration is $30 on race day, less in advance. May 27 (Mon.) / Memorial Day Ceremony at  the Wicomico Civic Center, Salisbury. Time: 10 a.m. Area residents are invited to honor those men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. The ceremony will take place at the Wicomico War Veterans’ Memorial in front of the Civic Center. (In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to the Civic Center’s Midway Room.) As part of the ceremony, there will be a lowering of the colors by the Wicomico County JROTC, ringing of the Red Knights Memorial Bell, branch prayers, and a volley of arms by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office. Veterans, as well as their families, will be recognized during the ceremony, including a special family tribute to Gold Star Mothers. War Memorial Committee members will perform the Reading of Veterans Names, which recognizes Wicomico County residents who have fallen in the line of service. http://www.wicomicociviccenter.org/events-listings/memorial-day-ceremony.
