Tuesdays in Nov. / Bird-watching and -counting (ebird project) at the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, 909 S. Schumaker Dr., Salisbury. Join local birders, Ward Museun staff, and Salisbury University students and faculty as they collect data on local migrating bird populations and submit that data to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology‘s eBird Citizen-Science Program. Time: Tuesdays from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Free.
Fridays in Nov. (thru Dec. 20, but excluding Nov. 29) / Friday Night Oysters at the Frankford, Del., Firehouse, 7 Main St. Enjoy oyster sandwiches, soft-shell-crab sandwiches, cheeseburgers, hamburgers, French fries, hot-sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, and more. Times: 4 – 7 p.m. Cost: $8.
Nov. 1 – 3 (Fri. – Sun.) / Matilda, the Musical, “the story of an extraordinary little girl with extraordinary powers.” Presented by the Community Players of Salisbury at Wicomico High School Auditorium. Times: Fri. and Sat. at 8 p.m.; Sun. at 2 p.m. Tickets: $12 – $22.
Nov. 2 (Sat.) / Oyster & Brew Festival on Tilghman Island. Enjoy a day by the water, slurping oysters and sipping craft brews at “Oyster Jam” at the Phillips Wharf Environmental Center’s annual fundraiser. Live music with Southbound. Time: Noon – 4 p.m. Admission: $30.
Nov. 3 (Sun.) / Bridal Show at Smokey Hollow (the Shore’s newest wedding and event venue), 37632 Lakeridge Dr., Selbyville, Del. Meet wedding service companies, plan your big day, and enjoy an afternoon of fashion shows and seminars. Tickets: $15. (Bride free with two purchased tickets.) Times: Noon – 2 p.m.
Nov. 6 – 10 / (Wed. – Sun.) / Eastern Shore Classic Dog Shows at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, featuring all-breed shows, obedience trials, and rally trials. Open to the public. Tickets: adults, $5; students, $3; children under 5, free. For times and specific events, visit
Nov. 8 (Fri.) / We Will Rock You, the Queen Musical at the Ocean City Performance Art Center, 4001 Coastal Highway. 8 p.m. Tickets: $55, $65, $75.
Nov. 11 / (Mon.) Veterans’ Day Ceremony at the Wicomico Civic Center, Salisbury. The ceremony includes patriotic music, prayer, and remembrance. 11 a.m. Free.
Nov. 20 (Wed.) / Mannheim Steamroller in concert at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, Salisbury. Celebrate the holidays with this group known for its Christmas music. 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $23.81 – $62.00.
Nov. 21 – Dec. 31 / Winterfest of Lights at Ocean City’s Northside Park. Sip hot chocolate in the heated Winterfest Village pavilion, take a photo with Santa, and board the Winterfest Express tram to tour fairy-tale-themed exhibits. The one-mile journey travels past hundreds of animated lighted displays and a 50-foot Christmas tree. Times: Fridays and Saturdays, 5:30 -10:30 p.m.; other nights, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. Tram tickets: $5 for those 12 and older; others, free.
Nov. 22 – 24 / Miracle on 34th Street (live on stage) at Salisbury Christian School, 807 Parker Rd., Salisbury. Times: Fri. at 7 p.m.; Sat. at 2 and 7 p.m.; Sun. at 2 p.m. Tickets: Adults, $12; students, $10; children ages 8 and under, $8.
Nov. 26 (Tues.) / Rockawalkin Thanksgiving Pie Bake (pick-up day). Order your pie in advance by phoning Tom Field at 410-430-4516. Pies include sweet potato (with or without coconut), lemon, apple, cherry, blueberry, and peach. Cost: $10 – 12. Pick up on Nov. 26th at the Rockawalkin Community Hall, 6772 Rockawalkin Rd., Hebron, Md. Sponsored by the Rockawalkin Ruritan Club.
Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving Day) / Annual “Turkey Trek” 5-k Run at Pemberton Historical Park, 5561 Plantation Lane, Salisbury. Run through Pemberton Park’s forests, meadows, and wetlands. (The course is mostly flat, with one or two small hills.) Refreshments and Thanksgiving pie will be available after the race. On-site registration: 7:30 – 8:00 a.m.; pre-registered runners’ check-in: 8:00 – 8:30 a.m. Race begins at 9:00 a.m. Fees: early registration, $25 (avail. through Nov. 24th); on-site registration, $30. Awards given for the overall male and female winner, for the best Thanksgiving costume, and for first through third place in various runner categories.
Nov. 29 (Fri.) / The Ten Tenors—Home for the Holidays at the Ocean City Performance Art Center, 4001 Coastal Highway. 8 p.m. Tickets: $39, $49, $59.
Nov. 29 – Dec. 1 (Fri. – Sun.) / Holiday Shoppers’ Fair at the Ocean City Convention Center, 4001 Coastal Highway. Over 150 vendors. Shop for handmade products, nautical items, candles, photography, florals, jewelry, ceramics, and more. Children’s activities & face-painting. Nov. 30 (Sat.) / Salisbury’s Winter Wonderland Tree Lighting in Salisbury’s City Park. Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. Enjoy free hot chocolate, free photos with Santa, Christmas carols by AMP, and a community dance party with The Creative Movement.*F.
Nov. 30 (Sat.) / Wicomico Yacht Club Christmas Boat Parade. The parade of decorated boats begins at the Port of Salisbury at 5:30 p.m., passes Upper Ferry at 6:45, and ends at the Wicomico Yacht Club at 7:45. Watch the boats as they travel their route, or come to the Yacht Club (open to the public for this event) and donate a toy to Toys for Tots.
Dec. 8 (Sun.) / Salisbury Jaycee’s Christmas Parade. Watch from East Main St. and Mt. Hermon Rd., Salisbury. Begins at 2 p.m. (Rain date: Dec. 15th.) Want to participate? Visit
