Tuesdays in Nov. / Bird-watching and -counting (ebird project) at the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, 909 S. Schumaker Dr., Salisbury. Join local birders, Ward Museun staff, and Salisbury University students and faculty as they collect data on local migrating bird populations and submit that data to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology‘s eBird Citizen-Science Program. Nov. 21 – Dec. 31 / Winterfest of Lights at Ocean City’s Northside Park. Sip hot chocolate in the heated Winterfest Village pavilion, take a photo with Santa, and board the Winterfest Express tram to tour fairy-tale-themed exhibits. The one-mile journey travels past hundreds of animated lighted displays and a 50-foot Christmas tree. Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving Day) / Annual “Turkey Trek” 5-k Run at Pemberton Historical Park, 5561 Plantation Lane, Salisbury. Run through Pemberton Park’s forests, meadows, and wetlands. (The course is mostly flat, with one or two small hills.) Refreshments and Thanksgiving pie will be available after the race. On-site registration: 7:30 – 8:00 a.m.; pre-registered runners’ check-in: 8:00 – 8:30 a.m. Race begins at 9:00 a.m. Fees: early registration, $25 (avail. through Nov. 24th); on-site registration, $30. The parade of decorated boats begins at the Port of Salisbury at 5:30 p.m., passes Upper Ferry at 6:45, and ends at the Wicomico Yacht Club at 7:45. Watch the boats as they travel their route, or come to the Yacht Club (open to the public for this event) and donate a toy to Toys for Tots. |
