One of the most pleasant and unique communities you’ll find on the Eastern Shore is a small town called Delmar.
As you might guess from the name, Delmar lies partly in Delaware and partly in Maryland. Though technically two separate towns, the two adjacent jurisdictions join together to provide several common services, such as policing, water treatment, public works, and––most notably––a common school system. You hear over and over again about how people move to Delmar specifically because of its excellent schools. Statistically, Delmar’s schools have been ranked among the best in Delaware, Maryland, and the entire nation.
I wanted to find out how Delmar’s schools achieved such amazing success. So I was delighted to have the chance to sit down with Dr. David Ring, superintendent of the Delmar School District, and Delaware’s 2014 Superintendent of the Year. Dr. Ring, it’s a pleasure to meet you. . . .
